I’ve made a couple of pairs of these cowmouths, similar to what I’ve written about here, but these are a bit different in that they have a “high-top” quarters. This type of shoe was quite common and strongly represented in the finds, but they are not as popular for re-enactors. I have come to like them a bit, if for no other reason than they are more unique.
Ooh… Nice! I like these much better than heels (I’ve hated high heels on “mundane” shoes as long as I can remember, and one of the many things I like about the SCA is that there are so many fashionable and *comfortable* footwear options…). They look like they’d fit my (wide) feet nicely!
Thanks so much for the thoughts! Yes, these have quite a wide toebox and for wider feet would be far more comfortable as a matter of course. =)
